An exquisite decorative enamel Trinket Box commemorating the 900th anniversary of the Domesday book in 1986. It features a scene from the Bayeux Tapestry, depicting William the Conqueror, labeled "WIL LELM" with advisors. Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry which recorded the Norman conquest of England. A commemoration that celebrates the Domesday Book, a comprehensive survey of England completed in 1086 under William the Conqueror's order. The hinged lid describes the depiction on the inside. The sides show different scenes of events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England. The piece measures approx 1 7/8" in diameter and 1 1/2" tall. Made in Bilston, England.
