Haeger Potteries Decorative Vase, 22K Gold Tweed & White, Mid-Century.

Haeger Potteries started in 1852 along the Fox River as a Dundee, Illinois brickyard. A German immigrant named David H. Haeger became part owner of this brickyard in 1871, and then gained sole ownership of it within a years time. By then, tiles were added to their production. When a fire devastated the city of Chicago from Sunday, October 8 to early Tuesday, October 10 known as the 'Great Chicago Fire', in an effort to help that city rebuild during the aftermath, Haeger's company shipped supplies of bricks from its location. By the 1920's he expanded production to now include teaware, luncheon ware, crystal, and glassware. An example of this would be a line under the brand name 'Royal Haeger' designed by Royal Arden Hickman, the company's first designer from 1938 - 1944, and are marked "Royal Haeger by Royal Hickman U.S.A. R###" on their items. In 1976, Haeger potteries entered the Guinness Book of World Records by creating the worlds largest hand-thrown vase, standing at more than 8 ft tall and weighing over 295 kg and currently rests in a museum at Haeger headquarters. Recently, Haeger pieces have become quite collectible. On April 6, 2016, it was announced from current owner Alexandra Haeger Estes (David's great-granddaughter) that after 145 years in business, Haeger Potteries anticipated ceasing its operations in May of 2016.
