“Le Geographe" or "The Geographer," 1992, is the first design for Hermès by Australian artist, Sandra Laroche, for the “Year by the Sea”. It depicts four of Australia's most renown explorers, Lesueur, Flinders, Baudin & Péron; a map of Australia surrounded by local flora & fauna; & explorer ships. Issued on rare Hermès jacquard silk in a kangaroo & anchor design in a gold & yellow colorway. It was reissued in 1995 & 1997. This scarf is from 1997 based on its fabric/care label. Beautiful!
