• Closure: Magnetic (fold-over tab closure);3 interior pockets: 1 pocket w/zip closure & 2 open inside pockets to fit keys, phone, etc.
• Outer “tan” material: Straw, but woven tightly. Fringes for decoration.

@kristyemiller Hi Kristy, great question. No, it's fixed. What I can tell you that it's the part where you typically have your hands because you are carrying it, unless of course you have it on your shoulders. Hope that helps.
