HIGH FASHION 1930s' BROWN STRAW TILT TOQUE WITH A CLUSTER OF PEARLS/LEAVES/VEIL

This remarkable high fashion1930s' brown straw tilt toque (A small cap or bonnet having a narrow brim or no brim) is beautifully trimmed with a stunning 'grape" cluster of pearls and a few green leaves made very fragile material. The pearls and fragile leaves are slightly imperfect, but it adds to the authenticity of the hat's age, and does not distract when wearing. There is a fabric covered wire circle arched at the back to place the hat in a tilted position. At the back of the crown there is a matching wide fabric bow, which has two ribbons cascading down. A matching veil finishes the striking look. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
