Have you ever wondered whether Gunamuna swaddles/sleep sacks/sleep bags are worth their steep price (around $72)? Well, they are exceptionally soft and plush (the lofty, microfiber material feels like a comforter) and the design is clever (multiple zippers let you only unzip the bottom of the sack for diaper changes.) This listing is for the Gunamuna swaddle designed specifically for newborns. It has a tall velcro band that can be wrapped around the baby's torso as a tight swaddle ("arms in" ) to reduce the startle reflex. The velcro band is sewn into the inside of the sleep sack (see photos). It's optional; the sleep sack can be used without employing it. (If you don't use the band, you would let your baby sleep "arms out".) The wide bottom of the sleep sack is supposed to promote natural leg movement. Gunamuna says all of these features lead to deeper sleep. This swaddle is size newborn to 3 months. In terms of warmth, it is 1.0 TOG. It's machine washable. It is in good, used condition. All of the snaps and zippers work; there are no rips/holes; and no weird smells. However, there is some very subtle yellow staining on the straps, which can be seen in the photos. This might come out in the wash, particularly with a stronger detergent. (So far, this swaddle has only been washed with 'free and clear' detergent.) Also, there's light pilling on the fabric. This happens with the Gunamuna sleep sacks that have 95% viscose exteriors. I've discounted the price accordingly.
