The velvet looks black but in the light it's more maroon. This is a vintage piece and is very small. I wear a 4 now, at one time it fit me but now it does not. I can't even zip it up on my mannequin! (It says it's a 4, but it is vintage) I suspect it is a 2 but its tight up top so if you have a bigger chest it would fit more like a 0!
