saccolks1950 @prettyprimposh. Hello! Herkimer diamonds are not actually diamonds but are called that due to natural faceting and light. They are actually double terminated quartz Crystals. The do not have a total carat weight value. They are named Herkimer because they are found mostly in and around Herkimer County , New York, and the Mohawk River Valley. They are famous for what they are.
