Gold tone & Crystal beaded stretchy bracelet w/Eiffel Tower charm. Gold tone metal beads are small round beads & 1” tube beads. Golden Crystal beads are small, round & faceted. Charm is .75” tall, gold tone & thin metal. Estate piece. Eiffel Tower was built for 1889 Exposition Universelle (World’s Fair of 1889), date that marked 100th anniversary of French Revolution. Competition was launched in 1886 for best, largest & most ostentatious design for the Exposition. The plan to build a tower 300 meters high was chosen for prized piece. Possibility of erecting an iron tower on the Champ-de-Mars w/square base, 125 m across & 300 m tall was selected from among 107 projects. Creators of project were Gustave Eiffel, entrepreneur, Maurice Koechlin & Emile Nouguier, both engineers, & Stephen Sauvestre, architect, was accepted. First digging work started January 26, 1887. March 31, 1889, tower had finished in record time! 2years, 2months & 5days, established as veritable technical feat! 18,038 metallic parts, 150 - 300 workers on construction site, 2,500,000 rivets, 7300 tons of iron, 5elevators & 60 tonnes of paint (~ 2591 L). Eiffel Tower had been under severe criticism while being built. Received enormous popular success w/completion of masterpiece. Received 2 million visitors during World’s Fair.
