New, never worn Authentic Peter Beaton Nantucket Leghorn Straw ‘Sconset Large Brim Hat is truly gorgeous! This hat features approximately a 4.5” brim that can be upturned, a bucket height of 4”, an oval crown with a 1.5” cream grosgrain ribbon around the bucket. Leghorn straw is hand-braided and then lock stitched and blocked into shape. The hat size is approximately 7 1/4”.

ackjayne @balletboy98 Good evening! Are you familiar with Peter Beaton Hats of Nantucket? When I purchased this hat from the flagship store on the island, the owner informed me that this was the leghorn. Just curious as to why you thought it might be Milan? Thanks!

balletboy98 @ackjayne It’s possible that it’s leghorn wheat, but it’s not a leghorn weave/style. A leghorn weave/braid is wider, typically close to a 1/2”.

ackjayne @balletboy98 Good Morning! Just wanted to clarify Leghorn vs. Milan. Leghorn is a type of straw; fine, plaited straw made from a specific fine, Italian wheat variety making it lightweight and durable. Milan, on the other hand is a braiding/weaving technique often using Synthetic fibers rather than a specific material. Wheat straw, hemp were used but synthetic allows for uniform texture and vivid colors.
