What an outstanding millinery high end millinery creation from the most elegant 1950s'!!! This three-tone green felt hat is in a 'bucket' shape and it is made of three different colors of felt that are joined together in a most creative way, as seen in the photos. The most beautiful feather "bird" is made of green colors for the body, and half the "tail". The bottom part of the feathers are dyed orange, which makes a statement and completes this fabulous look. There are thin green grosgrain bows securing the "bird' to the hat.
Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. The millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
There is no label, though there is a small area with an imprint, but it is incomplete, so it is iilleagible. No doubt a custom creation.
This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
