In 2001 I was a student in Chicago, and a homeless man had asked me for food or $. I had neither, but was almost home, so I offered him my scarf--the very first of many I eventually made--to help him keep warm. He gladly accepted it, and it was then I realized that was something I could do to make a difference. It gets expensive though, so I thought maybe a few people would like to help pitch in to give others warmth for the winter. Thanks!!

@kelsinator94 Hi! Thanks for asking! There are a few in my closet at various prices--I'll soon be adding more. The prices range right now from about $11 to $24, I believe. :) Let me know if you have more questions! :)

@fromlosttofound Thank you! It hasn't been too successful here on Posh, but we'll find the right place for it!

Just keep doing it! Do you look for yarn at thrift stores? It is one of my best places to find yarn that I can use to create at a fraction of the cost.

@fromlosttofound I will have to try that--thank you!

What a wonderful blessing! Have you ever tried selling them at local craft fairs?

adarlingcastano
@janine_e Thank you! I have--I don't have enough made yet to occupy a whole booth at a bazaar, but I seem to get lots of people who are interested as I make them--so often times (thank goodness) I've sold them before they're even finished! :)

Oh, that's great that you're selling them that quickly! God Bless you for that you're doing!

@janine_e It is really special to hand out scarves to those in need. I usually end up making two or three for every one I sell, so it's definitely not a $ maker, but I hope it makes a difference. :)

@janine_e Yes! Just not on here--but people don't exactly come here for handmade items, so I understand. :) If someone feels compelled or they just really like it, then that's great!

@3dsmom thank you so much!!! I always try to have half a dozen on hand to give out to people on the corner--especially in winter. They seem to really appreciate it. But it gets spendy, so this way, I can keep buying yarn to make them!! Thanks for your support!!

Right now my balance is low but soon as I make some sales I'll be back. I know what goes into making these for a while my son with autism made them. He's now doing bottle lights ๐. So I know the work involved . You've earned your spot in heaven ๐

@3dsmom oh no worries at all!! ๐ I so appreciated the shares, I didn't even think about a sale!! Hahahaha!! ๐ What a cool thing your son is doing!!

He's very talented but things don't keep him interest long.

@3dsmom he sounds inquisitive!! That's actually pretty cool since most of my autistic students have a very hard time deviating from the comfort of their routine and their favorite item/character/activity is their favorite for years. I'm sure he'll find his niche eventually--what really makes him tick. ๐

His "thing" is Disney animation ! But hobbies change about every 6 months ๐. Just when we think he's found something to keep his interest he moves on. Sorry for taking over your post. Can you tell I'm proud of him ?๐. We were told he'd never talk. Well he's fully fluent in 2 languages, another hobby, and graduated high school. ๐

@3dsmom How wonderful!!! No wonder you're proud of him!!! He sounds incredibly gifted, and nothing is better than being able to tell someone "watch me" or "watch them" when we're told we/someone we love will never do something. That's fantastic!!! Your son is clearly going places!!! ๐ Way to go mom, too!! From all my moms who have stood in your position, the struggle and the fight is 10x greater--I have watched first hand. But the victory even more satisfying as a result! Congratulations!!

Thank you so much, you brought tears to my eyes. It hasn't always been easy, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I don't know if I deserve credit. I am just his mom, but would do and have done what was needed so he would and will succeed. Thank you ๐
