GIBEON METEORITE: The GIBEON METEORITE traveled through space for billions of years before it was trapped by the Earth's gravitational field and pulled into Earth's atmosphere about 30,000 years ago. Once entering the atmosphere, it exploded and  showered fragments over a large strewnfield in what is now Namibia, Africa.  This meteorite was officially discovered in 1838. Only about 100–150 different fragments have been collected over time. Archaeologists though, have found evidence that the indigenous people of the region had been making spear points and tools from it for perhaps thousands of years before its “official” discovery.
