These brooches date from the 1890-1909 period, or the Late Victorian, Art Nouveau, or Edwardian Era, as these fashion eras overlap. Each Antique brooch measures 5/8" x 1 5/8", and is composed of molded Gutta Percha/Vulcanite in a domed, oval shape, with decorated hashmark centers. Back of each piece is Japanned silver metal with secure C-Clasps. Manufactured and purchased in France, with period-correct construction. Black Victorian Era Jewelry was often used as a sign of mourning. Exceptional condition ~ no flea bites, cracks, or fading to bow material. A few areas of discolorization on the back pin area due to 100+ years of storage.
