A gorgeous historical conversation piece that would elevate any decor.
Antique electrified french oil lamp. Originally a french brass moderator oil lamp made in the mid 1800's. Sometime in the early 1900's the oil lamp was coverted into an electric lamp. This was common practice at the time as homes acquired electricity.
Oil Lamp:
This moderator oil lamp was made by Joseph Schlossmacher. He had a shop in Paris, France. He produced lamps from approximately 1843-1860 under the company name "JS".
He put his patent information on his lamp which read;
"Lampe A Moderateur Perf
J Brevette S
Sans Garantie Du Government"
Current Lamp:
It was paired with a black shade made of a thick fiber. The lining was given a copper bath, which is stunning and gives off very pleasant lighting. It has a double socket with weighted pull chains. Chain are smooth when pulled (and even sound nice). Bulbs are smaller then standard. Purchase will include a box of extras. Felt bottom. At some point it was rewired a second time and meets today's standards. The lamp works perfectly and is very solid. Antique lamp shade has minimal wear, as shown.
