For Hope is a 1996 American made-for-television drama film starring Dana Delany and directed by Bob Saget. Based on Saget's sister Gay, the movie showed the experience of a young woman fatally afflicted with the disease scleroderma. Other cast members included Tracy Nelson and Chris Demetral. The film premiered on November 17, 1996 on ABCDana Delany had to have some significant prosthetic makeup applied to simulate the various degrees of disfigurement the main character, Hope, experienced as a result of the disease.

FOR HOPE was Directed and Executive Produced by SRF board member Bob Saget. When For Hope aired on the ABC television network on November 17, 1996, it was the first—and still only—movie to tell a family’s story of what it’s like to live with scleroderma.
For Hope was written by Susan Rice, Produced by Karen Moore, and Executive Produced by Bernie Brillstein and Brad Grey along with Bob Saget. The incredible cast included Dana Delany in the starring role, Henry Czerny, Polly Bergen, Harold Gould, Tracy Nelson, Chris Demetral, and many other guest cameos who gave themselves to this film as a gift to help tell this important story about a then unrecognized diseased—including The Scleroderma Research Foundation Founder, Sharon Monsky, who appeared as herself.
