jenn0129 Hi! I have been on here since April and have only sold 5 items. I share my items a couple of times a day including to parties, I share other posher's items and I add more followers every day. I have lowered prices a lot! sfgirl2015 @jenn0129 Hi Jen, your closet looks good. You have a large number of shares and followers/following. I can't say for certain what the issue is. You have some nice items too like the AK watch.My guess is that less popular items and brand's, even unknown brands, don't sell as well.

sfgirl2015 @jenn0129 I find I have to drop the prices of some clothes a lot, even if it's known brand like Nike. If you have something that's just not selling, even if it has a lot of likes, try reposting it as a new post.

sfgirl2015 @jenn0129 Congrats on 5 sales too! That's a good start. I sold stuff really cheap when I started. Now I really push my pipular brand name stuff like Lilly Pulitzer and Lululemon to make more sales at higher prices.

sweettsvariety @sfgirl2015 the hurricane was the worst scariest I have ever been in... It was extremely hot and no power meant no water to shower omg 5 days... I feel so bad for others... I bathed in my hot tub lol which was warm .. and used the water out of it to flush potty

My impression is that they're hard to sell on here because people don't want to spend a lot unless it's name brand or bundled kids clothes. Other than that, share your stuff as much as you can.

I don't have all the answers but I can give you my thoughts. 1) the people who sell things super cheap are probably clearing old stuff out of their home closets and looking to make any money from it. A few dollars is okay to them.

sfgirl2015 @morningspire If they bought them hoping to turn a profit, then they got the stuff really cheap, like $0.50 or $1. Or they've had it up for sale for a while and now just want to sell it off and cut their losses.

sfgirl2015 @morningspire the lowball offers do get tiring, I know. I have two thoughts about this, one being that there's a lot more competition which brings prices down. The other is debating whether you think a better offer will come along. I usually counter what's reasonable to me. I've even gently mentioned that my counter is lower than the price of the sold items if they take a look.

sfgirl2015 @morningspire 2) I find the items at thrift stores. I live in SF so it's common to see these brands on the street and in thrift stores. Not sure if location/popularity makes a difference. Sometimes I find things that have a mark or two and I buy it anyways because I know I can wash it out with spot treatment. Also I go to the thrift store as often as I can because the best items are taken quickly.

sfgirl2015 @morningspire I agree that all of this can be a lot of work for not much money, which is why I think it's good to track your hours and profit to figure out your hourly rate. For me, in the end, it's the convenience of this side hustle versus another and the fun of it that keep me going. I do understand your frustrations though.

I also limit the amount of time I spend on thirfting and selling because like you, I want to have some balance in my life and not run a shop 24/7. I keep those at the top and the other non so popular items more towards the bottom. I just keep sharing my items until they're in the order I want, which can be cumbersome.

sfgirl2015 @abigail1018 It's hard for me to critique closets because sometimes it's not apparent why someone isn't making sales. You definitely have some nice items in your closet like LV and Kate Spade. And you have a good amount of items for sale at reasonable prices. Do you share your own listings a lot? I'm pretty active sharing my own closet at least twice a day to make sure my items get seen. Also being an active sharer of other closets will help you get your items seen.

sfgirl2015 I used to think the same about self-shares when I first started, but now I think you actually have to be pretty active self-sharing to ensure it gets seen. I don't think people will notice or be bothered by you sharing a lot of your stuff. If they follow thousands of people, they're getting so many items in their feed every minute that they won't notice how often you share yours. And your items can easily get lost in their feed amongst so many other items.

sfgirl2015 @abigail1018 I forgot to tag you in my reponse above. I think your items are reasonably priced. Things tend to be priced higher on Poshmark because everyone makes offers on things so you have to be prepared to receive 25% or however much less that your listed price.

sfgirl2015 @abigail1018 I typically list the item for however much I want to receive for it plus a bit more to account for offers. Then I'll lower the price for closet clear out, sales, etc. If it gets too low and I haven't made a sale, I'll relist the item and start again.

I did get a lot of shares and followers my first time hosting, but not any more sales than usual around that time. Mostly it's really fun to host. You get to select 50-100 listings. I like publicizing other people's great items.

I've found that sharing your own items a lot helps get them more likes. Popular branded items like Kate Spade accessories and Free People clothes do well on here rather than more unknown, run-of-the-mill brands like those from Target that are already relatively cheap at the store. PM fees and shipping are high so the item has to be worth that additional cost.

I started selling on Poshmark during my freshman year of uni, but I only sold a few items here and there. As I've been working on decluttering (especially with many moves in the picture), I've gotten back into grind. sfgirl2015 @bluepuppies hi there, it's hard for me to say what will work for an individual closet. In general, I try to sell brands that are in-demand and expensive at retail. Other brands do sell but generally at much lower prices. Do you share your own listings a lot? A lot of people share others' listings and not as much of their own. I think it should be the other way around.

It seems like every year there's a serious risk of a big fire or there is one and people lose their homes. I've been fortunate not to live in a fire zone and to have some good sales these past two weeks to raise $.

sfgirl2015 @kickin_assets oh how strange, I see the sheets come up as sold in my purchases, but I also received an offer just a minute ago. When I go to My Likes, the sheets are there but don't say sold. Another listing? It's strange but not the first time I've heard of glitches with double posting. I had it happen to someone else I purchased from. I'd contact PM if it's doing that to your listings.
