Five JJ Jonette Brooches #8 A246

This lot includes five JJ brooches. Three are gold tone; two are both gold and silver tone. Four are leaf brooches and one is a cyclone-like spiral. All have rollover C clasps in good working condition. Wear and share 💗💕‼️ Created by Abraham Lisker, the company “Jonette Jewelry” started its activities in 1935 under the name “Providence Jewelry Company”. In 1937, when Nathan Lisker joined his brother’s business, the company was renamed “Lisker & Lisker”. But seven years later, after the World War II, the brothers renamed the company by combining the names of their parents, John and Etta, “Jonette Jewelry Co”, in 1944. Since 1970, the company became known as JJ, and each piece was marked “copyright JJ”. The founder of the company, Abraham Lisker retired in 1972; his son, B. Gordon Lisker became the new head and outsourced some of the firm’s production to other companies. In 1986, he registered the name “Artifacts”, and used Roman numerals MCMLXXXVI on jewelry cards. Unfortunately, after 62 years, Jonette Jewelry ended production in September 2006. Widely known to collectors, JJ Jewelry's distinctive designs are not just decoration, but are works of art.
