First Edition Will James: The American Cowboy

Publication: Charles Scribner’s Sons 1942, New York, First Edition Excellent condition, in dust jacket with very minor wear on edges. First printing with the publisher’s “A” and seal on the copyright page. Bound in original red cloth, tight spine, titles stamped in blue on the front cover and spine, 273 pp., preface and illustrations by Will James. Will James (1892-1942) was an artist and author focusing on the American West. One of his other works, Smoky the Cowhorse, won the 1927 Newbery Medal, a special award for achievements in children’s writing.
