Fire Time is a science fiction novel by Poul Anderson, first published in 1974. It was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1975. The book was published as part of the Doubleday Science Fiction series. The story takes place on the planet Ishtar, located in the "Anubelea" system, 300 parsecs from the Sun. Ishtar has a peculiar orbit around three stars: Bel (the "real" sun), Ea (a companion star), and Anu (the "Demon Star"). Every thousand years, Anu approaches Ishtar, causing a dramatic increase in heat known as "Fire Time".
