Fabulous 1949 Issue Evans Coronation Carryall Silver Rhodium & Rhinestone Crown

SALE We are pleased to offer the 1949 Evans Coronation Carryall. For description, we are quoting directly from a print ad featuring Shirley Temple posing with the carryall. "Finishing Touch to Evening Glamour. . . Evans bracelet-handled Coronation carryall--fitted with after-five indispensables. Brightest rhodium reflects a crown of rhinestones, heralds the elegance within. Inside, jeweler-designed automatic 'pop-up' lipstick, covered powder well, puff, comb and coin holder plus separate space for cigarettes. . .hanky or keys, if you prefer." The carryall opens on both sides with push pin. NOTE--the underside of the powder well has something wrong--a flaked thin black substance--would there have been a mirror here? The underside of the top of the carryall has a mirror, so not sure why there would be 2. All else is extant, including the red lipstick in its holder. The pink puff appears to have been used once or twice. The ad indicates the original cost in 1949 was $36.50 although most other Evans compacts were from $25.
