FESTIVE 1950s' MUSTARD COLOR FURRY FELT TOQUE WITH LARGE MATCHING FABRIC ROSE

This is a very pretty small toque from the 1950s'. Its is unique in that it was made off a shiny mustard color furry felt. The cap is given more interest by the stitching done on the inside that makes the top of the hat looked like it has 2 seams. There is a stunning large fabric rose in the same mustard color. There are also green fabric "leaves" and several green "stems" around the rose.This hat is supposed to sit on top of the head, as it is small. Hair pins can be used to secure the hat to the hair. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Note: There are some stains inside the hat on the grosgrain inside band. This does not detract from the beauty of this hat. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition, except for the stains mentioned above. It has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
