Lovely design. Each of these silver-tone faux post earrings features an asymmetrical loop dangle with a 1-1/2 inch drop and is adorned with clear rhinestones.
● The first modern method of making imitation pearls was patented by Jacquin of France in 1686. Some imitation pearls (also called shell pearls) are made of mother-of-pearl, coral, or conch shell, while others are made from glass and are coated with a solution containing fish scales called essence d'Orient.
● Rhinestones are often times referred to as paste, strass, or diamente. A rhinestone is a man-made imitation of a cut and polished gemstone. Centuries ago, quartz pebbles with a high lead content were found sparkling on the banks of Europe's Rhine River. These beautiful, natural stones were highly coveted and were eventually depleted, inspiring jewelers to create an imitation, aptly named the "rhinestone."
