FASHIONABLE 1940's BLACK STRAW & LACE HAT WITH IVORY FLOWERS

What a beautiful hat from the 1940s'! The crown is a pear shaped cap made of black straw, which comes to a point at the front. The brim is made entirely of beautiful lace, creating an intriguing look. At the back there are 3 beautiful ivory fabric flowers & green leaves. Attached to the inside there is an elastic band to help keep the hat in position. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: MARION HALLIWELL This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
