Selling this amazing Ethiopian Opal pendant set in sterling silver.
It is an Ethiopian Opal doublet which means the Opal is set on a stone base to make it more impact resistant.
It also gives it more flash of color on the dark base.
As all of the Gemstones that I am selling I bought this one at the Gems and Mineral Show.
NEW, no tags because I made it myself.

Is the stone base the dark (black?) thin layer? Why this piece and not others? Just curious. Love all your pieces!

Hello,thanks for liking my closet.
It is a pretty thick layer of black base.
I sold another one of these a while ago.
I bought this Opal as it is and only made the pendant out of it.( Most of the other Opals I buy raw and edge and dremel and polish them myself with my hand dremel)It was the first time ever that I had seen an Ethiopian Opal as a doublet.The owner at the Gems Show told me that it is to make it more colorful and impact resistant. He always tries something new.
