Beautiful English Wedgwood Jasperware ashtray or trinket dish in “Wedgwood Blue” depicting Cupid as the oracle from Roman Mythology. It has a border of grapevines and grapes. Jasperware is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. Jasperware is usually described as stoneware, with an unglazed matte “biscuit” finish. Josiah Wedgwood is credited with industrializing the manufacture of pottery. Measures: 4 1/2" diameter x 5/8" high. Wedgwood (Manufacturer) Diameter: 4.50 in. (11.43 cm) Style: Neoclassical Place of Origin: England 1970s Condition: Good, Wear consistent with age and use. Very good antique condition, no cracks or chips. Minor signs of use.
