Emmanuelle Khanh (1937-2017) reinvigorated French fashion. Khanh's most iconic innovations were the creation of oversize eye frames and making frames an essential accessory to "make" an outfit. Khanh worked with Givenchy. She designed Audrey Hepburn's famed sunglass frames and had a collection of sunglasses handmade in France. This pair of vintage '80's sunglasses is from that collection of handmade frames. With bronze-studded “tortoise shell” detail & gold initials “EK” on outer side of left prong. These say: "Emmanuelle Khanh Paris -- Hand Made in France/Private Eyes." The numbers “EK 118 T5 16” are inside the right prong. Lenses are dark-gray non-prescription . They give a clear/sharp “vision” though they do have minor scratches. An optician said the lenses are UV protected not polarized. Frames are in good condition w minor wear. They may be worn as-is if one does not need a prescription. Accompanied by zippered eyeglass case. Dimensions: Each lens: 1.5” high X 2” across Distance from outer-edge of frames to other outer-edge = 6” (Edge to bridge 3”) Height of frames around lenses 2.75” Prong-length from hinge to end 5” Prong-width 1” near edge-hinge A true "find."
