Nervous shopper compulsive seller. At present in remission from stage 4 lung cancer, an oxymoron and yet still true. Also what’s up with the varying sizes in my closet. I came in to posh 96 pounds. Got sick and went down to 60. Got better but immunotherapy knocked out my thyroid so I’m learning to live 30 pounds heavier. 🤷🏻♀️ All in all, clothes are how I try to feel better about the scarred up girl I see now, and also how I offset medical upkeep and the price it cost to save my life.

@alioope I’m not sure what hoodie you mean or if you’re in the right place, but I’m not looking to do trades, thanks though!

Swnding prayers ur way! 🥰 My mother also had stage 4 lung cancer. Squamous cell in the right lower lobe of her lung & nodes. Her prognosis was poor tho she wanted to fight it! She had her right lower lobe and nodes removed with radiation tx. to follow.
Forty years later, my mother is still with us and has been in remission ever since! Fight your fight! My mom is living proof that it can be beaten!
Bc of my mom I became a respiratory therapist 25 years and I love to share her story.

@salperovich thanks for sharing! I had my first scan this week after stoping Keytruda and I’m still #NED. In August my story (comas! Death sentences! Doctors who have up and sent me to Hospice!) will be the cover story of advanced lung cancer magazine. I’m more impressed you’re an RT! Times in the past if have given my soul for an RT, but with Covid.. none to be found. So I’ve done it the hard way. AKA Live and learn 💛🙂

Aww girl love your new cover photo!😍😎🥳

@desertpanther thanks! But I’d it really me!? 🤣🤣🤔😳

@inpurplesworld Wait, you got COVID while with ca?
alwayz_rocking
@inpurplesworld so Keytruda helped? It put you in remission? That’s fantastic. You had your first clean scan? Tell me all about it.
inpurplesworld
@salperovich oh no! I never had Covid, I meant all RT’s are working Covid lung it seems.
alwayz_rocking
@inpurplesworld also, you look very young.
inpurplesworld
@salperovich Keytruda saved my life. Plain and simple. You can catch a bit of my story on my Instagram: mancini_horan

@salperovich Aw thanks! I’m 48.

@inpurplesworld Phew! I was going to say, wow! Yes, we have been very sadly busy with COVID. I’m so glad the worse part is over, and a vaccine is here. I wish everyone would get vaccinated. If people were to see what RT’s and other healthcare workers did, they wouldn’t think twice about getting vaccinated; I promise you that. It was a nightmare. Covid is such a monster!

Lastly, as an RRT, it is my professional opinion to say that since you kicked stage 4 cancer’s ass, you are allowed to do all the nervous shopping and compulsive selling you want, girl! There's not a doubt in my mind that you have been thru hell and back, so you deserve to pamper yourself!! Go for it!
alwayz_rocking
P.S. You must write a book bc you have a fantastic story to tell! I know other patients could greatly benefit from hearing your success story; I'm a firm believer that fighting dramatically increases the chances of survival even when the odds are against you. I've seen unbelievable triumphs even tho the textbooks told us differently. Doctors aren't always right. My mother is living proof, and so are you. The fighters survive. God always sees to it!

@salperovich I had a trach because I had a tumor grow out of my right main bronchi over my trachea and it suffocated me, so I was put in an induced coma with a baby intubation tube snaked around it into one lung. Waking like that, a vent hooked to a trach… I understand breathing problems. At the time I also had a +7cm tumor crushing all 3 right lobes. Not being able to breathe sucks, and people risking Covid are freaking insane. Even if there’s just a *maybe*, it is not worth it.
inpurplesworld
I got lucky, and my lungs are fine now. The Breather helped me out immensely. I just figured out how to fix things as I went along. Me and Google 😂. Maybe a book someday… I just refused to do promo and commercials for my cancer center because I believe they are compromising care (cut backs) to save $$ cause they had Covid and a random ware payout 🙄
inpurplesworld
But it gets me a meeting with the CEO. They want my story. I don’t ever want to see someone told they were going to die as many times as I was ever again. Patient advocate seems to be my calling now. I’m married to a musician. Ergo why I can’t shop as much as I want… broke AF 🤣
alwayz_rocking
@inpurplesworld, so they trach’d you and also slid a tube into the Right Lung? Did they run two ventilators, or was the trach put in to provide you with an airway, and the box they placed in the right stem was to offer a different volume amount? If I'm getting too technical, please say so. It's just that not every day I hear stories like this; I greatly appreciate you sharing yours with me. You are a medical marvel.
inpurplesworld
@salperovich the tube went into the left (good) lung. I was put in an induced coma for 9 days so I wouldn’t move, if that tube got jostled I was gone. The small tube was my only air, so at first there was cryosurgery to try to chunk off the tumor, then brachytherapy, then my favorite - the cyber knife 😂
inpurplesworld
I was also getting highlights dose radiation in conjunction. The trach was put in around day 4 on the coma to save my vocal cords. Very touch and go time I’ve heard. 3 days after they woke me that tumor was gone. And they told me I had 3 days to live if I didn’t have surgery to remove a bowel blockage .. which was a cancerous polyp that .. blew up.
inpurplesworld
I had the surgery, got a peg but not a colostomy bag because they read the scan wrong not realizing I had no fat pad …and the next day another blew up. Then everyone… disappeared. Sort of left for dead in an icu. And I was given 2 weeks. So I came up with a plan. Hospice. I called hospice to save my life. Man. It IS a good story 😂
alwayz_rocking
@inpurplesworld. Married to a musician huh? Cool. I actually play the drums. Just a hobby tho.
Gotta say, not in a million years would I’ve ever thought that when I was shopping your closet and making up my bundle , id also be getting to hear such an incredible success story too? Especially since I never read bios! I just had to see who the chick was that had such badass clothes!
inpurplesworld
@salperovich husband is solo bass/singer. Mostly teaching now. He was my nurse through all this. Learned to empty bedpans, clean trach, clean a PICC line, empty/fill a peg. He’s my dude. Clothes have always been a passion. When we lived out west I used to paint murals in boutiques for clothes 😂 it was a reckoning to be 60 pounds, then back to 98, and then be stunned to watch it sail past until not even my underwear fit (doubled my weight in about 4 months).
neon_demon
You have the most, beautiful and amazing closet that I have visited 🤗🥰

@neon_demon thanks so much! 💕

@inpurplesworld Hi. I just read your bio and wanted to send a message to say what an ordeal you have been thru. My gosh. I loved how open and honest your short bio was. I hope and wish that all the challenges have faced and over come, that shopping is the only thing you are reluctant about! I hope you take this world and life by the balls and do good things. Best wishes to ya girl for a smooth sailing here on out.
inpurplesworld
@ambronie Aw, thanks! I was just baking a cake to celebrate that 2 years ago today I went into hospice… which likely doesn’t make sense but it was my first step to surviving (running away from the hospital 😂). These days I find myself doing consulting work with hospitals and drug companies. Life, if you do it to the fullest, can be extremely weird!
