Eger city emblem from Hungary

Hanging porcelain commemorative emblem / placard of the city Eger in Hungary. Approx 7.5” x 5.5”. Eger is a city in north east Hungary which is famous for its castle 🏰 - several cities defend Hungary against the Turkish occupation in 1552. The ottoman empire was growing and invaded half of Europe, when the Hungarians stopped them in Eger. The castle featured on this placard is where the Hungarian fighters, which included women, defended the city. The Hungarians won and church bells ring throughout the city at noon every day in honor of this battle.
