There are no elastic loops but there are belt loops for a belt. My son was tall and thin and wore these with a belt and the fit was good. The eaist measures 12 in across.

@poshyslothyshop Thank you. My son is also tall and slim. They don't seem,to make the pants with the tabs inside to adjust waist in the bigger sizes.
