EXQUISITE 1940s' BLACK TOPSTITCHED FABRIC & CRIN WIDE BRIM TILT HAT

The sewing skills used by the designer of this hat are unbelievable! Please look at the photos closely. You can see that the shiny black fabric flat top crown is intricately topstitched in several ways. The crown is surrounded by a wide brim consisting of topstitched fabric plus a crin extension. There are crin and fabric bows adorning the front of this stunning hat. There are 2 fabric bands attached to the inside back, joined together by an elastic ring. This is to keep the hat in a tilted position. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these.
