EXCITING 1940s' BLACK STRAW WIDE BRIM HAT + WHITE FABRIC DAISIES

This is a stunner! This black straw hat consists of a short, round crown surrounded by a large wide brim. There is a black grosgrain band around the crown which ends in a bow at the back. The bottom of the brim is entirely covered in white fabric daisies. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. This hat makes a statement! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
