"E·phem·er·a" - things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time, such as papers, letters, brochures, maps, and the list goes on. There are many collectors of ephemera because it is memorabilia, typically written or printed ones, that were originally expected to have only short-term usefulness or popularity. However, how fun is it to stumble upon a box full of old recipes that were hand-written from a grandma, or maps from that cross-country trip that you absolutely couldn't stand because the station wagon didn't have air-conditioning, and you had to endure miles and miles of travel games with your brothers and sisters while mom fought the AAA Map blowing around while Dad was getting agitated with everyone in the car. Good times, good times!
