ENCHANTING 1940's YELLOW FELT FEDORA WITH DOTTED VEIL & VELOUR BAND/BOW

This is a beautiful yellow felt fedora from an estate sale of a glamorous socialite. The crown is typical of the 1940s' in that it is conical in shape and slightly leans towards the front. The crown has an indentation at the front where yellow threads have been inserted to create drama. There is a narrow yellow velour band around the brown, which ends in a bow at the side. The brim is wide and flexible. An astounding matching color dotted veil is attached. The veil can be worn over the face or tucked on top of the wide brim as shown in the photographs. What a beautiful hat! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
