This beautiful and elegant hat is made with very soft emerald green velour felt, and it is trimmed with 'feathers' of the same material to one side.
Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.

Thank you most sincerely for your kind comments. For us, a new vintage hat find is a joyful event...to imagine how the hat was worn, and what the whole 'look' was like at the time...and how the hat must have been loved. Vintage hat sizes 22 are like a standard, or MEDIUM. Size 23 is like a LARGE. Hats were often worn to a side, and they were not meant to fit tightly on one's head. Others like fedoras are more fitted. This hat from the 50's is a bit more fitted, yet it will fit most head sizes.
