'On the Border' is the third studio album by the American rock band Eagles, released on March 22, 1974. It is the first Eagles album to feature guitarist Don Felder. The album includes 'My Man', fellow guitarist Bernie Leadon's tribute to his deceased friend Gram Parsons. Leadon and Parsons had played together in the pioneer country-rock band Flying Burrito Brothers before Leadon joined the Eagles.
The album became the band's most successful of the three released to that point. It debuted at #50 on the US Billboard 200 chart in the first week of its release, peaking at #17 by week six.
The three singles from the album all made it onto the US Billboard Hot 100 chart: Starting with 'Already Gone', which reached #32, 'James Dean' peaked at #77 and 'Best of My Love' became the bands' first #1. The album also contains a cover version of fellow Asylum recording artist and writer Tom Waits' "Ol’ ’55," a fan favorite which received substantial FM airplay and continues to receive active rotation on classic rock radio and streaming platform playlists.
The album was ultimately certified Double Platinum by the RIAA in the US.
