The crackled surface is designed to mimic the battered effect of hand-painted, well-worn boots. As the sandal is worn more, the leather becomes increasingly distressed, with the top layer deliberately flaking away to reveal more of the contrasting coloured texture beneath. This doesn't affect the quality of the footwear and gives you a totally unique pair of shoes or boots - your own personal expression of individual style. You will find two straps leading up to the metal buckle fastening that covers the top of the foot, while the heel strap will keep your foot secure.
