You can call them Mid-Century Modern, you can call them Art Deco, but I call them stunning - either way you're sipping in style! This clean modern design was recently revived by the television show Mad Men with the 'roly-poly' rocks glasses.
Marvelous mid-century modern elegance and enjoyment are inevitable with these rare Dorothy Thorpe treasures! This sophisticated set of 4 trumpet toasting glasses & 4 roly poly rocks glasses. All feature the iconic bold sterling silver band at the rim for which Dorothy Thorpe was known. They are beautiful treasures on their own, but imagine how they will delight the eyes of your guests when filled with wonderfully colorful beverages!
All of the glasses are in perfect condition with no nicks, cracks, or chips. The silver bands on the stemmed glasses have no scratches or missing silver, various wear to the silver on the top of the rims (likely from being stored upside down). 1 of the rocks glasses is perfect in all ways. 2 of the rocks glasses have tiny nicks on the outside silver band. 1 rocks glass has 3 linear scratches on the outer band - see pics for condition. Although not ALL Dorothy Thorpe glassware boasted her etched brand stamp, 3 of the stems proudly display the signature '-T-' of the brand.
Dorothy Thorpe was born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1901. She graduated from the University of Utah and settled in Glendale, CA in the 1930s. Thorpe is best known for her glassware with simple silver and platinum wide band rims.
