sofie10 @posh393 hi. hope you don't mind me chiming in.. I have this bag! It's fabulous! Those are outside pockets --2 big ones. Look at the top of the bag. on each side..those are pockets. they go about halfway down the bag. I love this bag... that price is a steal too!!

sofie10 @posh393 one more thing. Mine is 12" across on the bottom. It kind of bells out on the middle sides where it's about 15". Very roomy but not huge. You can crossbody this one or wear on the shoulder or carry as satchel.
