vmspinel @jax_daniels yes! I understand buying these at 40 for resale and charging up to 70 ish dollars. But where are they like 90 and above? Especially when it's used! Driving. Me. Nuts.

vmspinel @thirteensporks saks does have a lot of deigns! Unfortunately every time I try to order from there I go through the whole entire process of payment and everything and THEN it tells me they don't have my size. Not sure if it's a glitch or it sells out fast
Sep 09Reply
indie1
indie1 It's not a glitch, all the vultures buy them up asaps to resell for triple

rambley Facts! Love this post too much. I feel for anyone who overpays for stuff from off fifth or the rack. The quality is a bit worse, fitting is a bit off and all of the designs feel uninspired aka Wildfox never tried to list any of it at their usual $108/$64 dolla retail value for.a.reason! Also Hallelujah praise da lawd at dis post. Lawds werk ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ also @thirteensporks even though shes already posted on this thread /

erikatilly Yep I've def noticed this. So many things on saks off 5th going for such high prices on here!

erikatilly A few months ago I saw a wildfox piece from TJ Maxx that was marked $30 in store, sell for like $200 on posh. Yikes.

jillianka
jillianka So true.. And worse, those that are selling these pieces at astronomical prices, don't realize that everyone knows where they got it... It's as if they think it's their little secret.. Lol @thirteensporks @indie1

vmspinel @ladadeeda @thirteensporks oh wow i didn't know that! I guess it's like how coach has their outlet bags and regular bags. Interesting! Also wildfox has a STUDENT DISCOUNT that is pretty generous

jillianka
jillianka @vmspinel So true! Ost of us know by pictures and designs what is on the sakoss5th and nordstromrack sites... I want to scream... Stop selling a $60 hoidie for $120...half of us think ut's snaky, and the other half is being taken advantage of. I sell rare and old, and some fom the sales, but I end up selling nwt's for LESS than sale prices.. Lol
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @jillianka I'm not really here to resell. I'm mostly here to clean out my house haha. I love shopping and getting great deals. As long as I'm not losing too much I'll really just let it go! I tried resale on here and it really didn't go very well. I managed to find some really cute pieces at a super cheap price but I still wasn't able to sell many of them because in order to just pay the posh fee and keep the price fair, I was profiting 5 ish dollars which isn't worth if!
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @thirteensporks I see what you mean but there will always be competition ! It's definitely even harder for small shops because they have rent, utilities, instance, Etc which obviously drives up the prices but here it's only 20% and the inconvenience of having it in your home
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @thereissun there is a unicorn sweater on here for full price also on the rack site for $40
Sep 09Reply
jillianka
jillianka @vmspinel I agree with you! I sell from my own stuff.. I don't buy to resell, but I do like some of the prints and tgen I end up not wearing so I sell.. Lol.. I am not one of those that buys every size... To sell for double or triple.. Lol
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @jillianka resell is hard because you need to get such a good price to sell for a fair price to make more than $5 profit!
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @thirteensporks I think people are truly unaware of the vast amount of sellers! I'm really interested in pre owned at this point just so I can pay something fair!
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @thirteensporks wow you definitely know a lot about the company! I'm personally just a fan of their hilarious sayings, cute animals, and ultra comfiness! How can I evaluate which pieces are worth the price on here ?
Sep 09Reply

vmspinel I will definitely check after work today! I'm excited to see what you have ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

alion5th
alion5th Thanks for posting this! Literally the Wildfox feed over the past several days has been like a mix of the Rack and sacs off 5th combined lol. It just kills me because any of us shopping for WF know which designs are from there! I totally get the desire to profit, as some people make a living off of here, but take the time to find cool and unique items to resell, or get into buying legit wholesale,
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th and then offer those items at a reasonable mark up that is a good deal for the buyer and fair for the seller (in terms of covering operating expenses and everything else). I think there's a right and a wrong way to do resale on here, this whole $120 for a discount jumper is just a rip off๐Ÿ˜‚
Sep 09Reply
erikatilly
erikatilly @thirteensporks a TJ Maxx near me had a ton of the super soft pink Barbie logo hoodies, and around the same time I saw one going on here for $200 or more! I don't know much about Wildfox but I think the seller was calling it rare.
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @alion5th do you know anything about the actual wholesale stuff here? I've been thinking of that but I'm wondering how cheap the prices really are!
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @erikatilly the "rare" is what absolutely makes me laugh every single time. Every single item in the world can be rare if you keep it long enough. Seriously the item being old does not make it rare. Rare means that limited quantities were released
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th There's defiantly some good stuff in the wholesale portal! Some of it is pretty expensive to get into, especially if you want to buy more than one item. But they sell a few more affordable brands too. Regardless that initial expense is always going to be a bit of an undertaking.
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th I've seen some cute things that I've considered purchasing for my new closet I opened, @aliencouture, eventually I plan to have that closet be mostly retail items (as well as my own line of clothing in the future), but right now I'm re-selling more popular brands solely with the intent of gaining a following, since I'm not profiting off the majority of the things I currently have listed.
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th Only downside of the stuff from the posh wholesale portal is that obviously SO many people on here sell those items, so it's hard to set your closet apart with things from there
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @alion5th could you give me an idea of a start up cost? My friend is doing lularoe and I almost fell over when she said it was $5,000 ๐Ÿ˜ I can imagine it's tricky when trends are always changing and there's so many options. I think I'm going to wait until I have everything in my current closet sold
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th Yeah $5k is a lot! If you're going to do stuff from the posh wholesale portal you can really pick and choose based on your budget, if you go look thru some of those sellers under the wholesale tab you can defiantly get an idea of what it would cost you to get started. Totally depends on what kind of items you'd be interested in selling.
Sep 09Reply
alion5th
alion5th All of the wholesale sellers typically sell you items in 5 packs. You can start with as many or as few different items as you'd like, so honestly you don't have to have a big start up cost, you could just try a couple things and see how it goes and just keep adding new items as the sales pick up
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @alion5th thanks so much for all your advice! Unfortunately I have about 250 things to sell so I better start making those sales or I'll never get to it! Good luck with your new closet! I'm sure you'll be great!

premierbuy
premierbuy People just need to do their research. I say charge what you want call it what you want that's the sellers choice. It's the buyer that is dumb. That's economics and marketing 101 :)
Sep 09Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @premierbuy the point is that I don't see these sellers making any sales ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ just trying to save them a little time and money with this information ๐Ÿ˜Š
Sep 09Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy economics 101 has to do with supply and demand- and I think this entire thread is about exactly that, people "investing" from a retail site and then expecting to be able to yield more of a return than the suggested retail price. The flood of product in the marketplace has caused a de-valuation of the product.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy Yes, you can say or charge what you want but that doesn't apply to business. You cannot falsely advertise that a product can make you lose 50 pounds in 2 days and not get sued. You cannot increase the price of water as a grocer during a crisis and not violate laws regarding price gouging.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy yes, you are correct that a buyer should beware, but the seller has a responsibly if not for legal reasons but for ethical ones to be as honest as possible about their product. That's humanity 101- we are all on the same hurling space rock together. I think the point is that WF and PM are supposed to be alternatives to mainstream shopping sites and a community that helps one another.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy To disregard the buyers interests for your own is sad. The 1st amendment does not apply to businesses but to the individual. I wish you well in your business and future endeavors. Thank you for bringing up this point, as I think it was at the core of the upper thread but not being addressed directly.

Sep 11Reply
premierbuy
premierbuy @bicycle_belle walk into Gucci and tell them they can't charge that price. Walk into the local bank and tell them their credit card fees are too high. People can charge whatever they like without price gouging and that can be 100%+ if thier cost. If you don't like it don't buy it instead of pouting about it. Perhaps you should do more than Google...

bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy thank you for thinking that I had to google in order to respond to you. I wrote my own response but it is flattering that you thought differently nonetheless. I also responded as politely and respectfully as I could, even though I disagree with you. The fact you choose to make this personal rather than an open dialogue, shows the depth of your knowledge on the subject.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy As though attempting to indict my response (which arguably you grant as correct by thinking I had to "Google" it) and then laughing at me in anyway bolsters your argument that "the buyers are dumb" is a valid reason that you should charge 100%+ over value, speaks more about your character than mine.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy as for your actual content- you are correct, I cannot argue with Gucci over their prices, but Gucci also has to maintain a value proposition that justifies their pricing. They also have to go through local regulatory hoops, pay rent for points of sale, pay import taxes, pay CC fees, and yes, pay marketing directors to align their product with other brands that communicate their quality and lifestyle branding. Thus their price is considered fair and the market responds as such.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy as for going to the bank and arguing that credit card fees are too high- yes, you can do that and if you are a long standing customer you can often get the bank to waive fees, lower interest rates, and refinance loans. Businesses can negotiate credit card fees and depending on their sales, often end up paying less due to their volume and the banks interest in keeping their customers.
Sep 11Reply
bicycle_belle
bicycle_belle @premierbuy I appreciate your response and will disregard the unnecessary snark as a result of either your age and/or feeling of self-importance. I hope you do well in your position.

bicycle_belle @vmspinel hasn't been my typical Sunday morning on posh. Sorry this is on your posting. I think it was kind of you to look out for other poshers and remind them to do their due diligence and not take a loss on something they will never re-coup b/c the value isn't there anymore. I am with @thirteensporks, I am interested in the quality of original WF and as soon as that is compromised it is time to move on to other brands.
Sep 11Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @bicycle_belle absolutely no worries dear. Just thought the info might help some new poshers. I know that I tried to resell and to keep prices fair and due to posh costs, I only ended up profiting about $5-10 per transaction. Obviously it wasn't worth my time and if I had seen something like this, I could have saved my time and efforts and instead shared more listings, gained new followers, etc
Sep 11Reply
vmspinel
vmspinel @thirteensporks thank you! I admit I got a little sassy but I'm not tolerating someone else being rude and calling poshers "dumb" for any reason. I'm a teacher and I don't applaud those who feel self important because they have a specific title. Googling and regurgitating is not equivalent to knowledge. Our posher must have been kicked off posh before, which is why she felt so strongly about the topic but has no sales!

denisefbatalha LOVE THIS! I mean, I get it: supply & demand, especially with high end, sought after products, but even stores like Express... LOL I came across a sweater (kicking myself in the ass for not having bought it, but I have to think of my finances at this time, anyway) selling for $98. They put the listing up when the sweater was going for $30. LOL Man, this makes me hate people. I never mean to generalize, but it seems more and more are dishonest by the second. Same with the Tati palette. LOL
