I’m a 24 waist too and normally with a string bikini I do a XS, but since this wasn’t I did the S for the same reason like you said I didn’t want it like too tight on the side looking. It fit perfectly! It’s a great bathing suit I only wore it once on a trip. Yellow just isn’t my color so I never wore it again
