Democratic Party U.S.A. Donkey Cufflinks
The donkey was first used to represent the Democratic Party in 1870 in a cartoon in the Harper’s Weekly. It was used in a depiction of a donkey kicking a lion. The lion represented Lincoln’s Secretary of War during the last three years of the Civil War. By 1928, some Democrats were acknowledging the donkey as their unofficial animal, but it wasn’t until 1932 that the donkey was on the first official campaign poster.
These cufflinks are shaped like donkeys, with red and blue enamel, with three silver stars on the top. They have bullet toggle closures.
These will coordinate perfectly with most formal and business attire. A great set to gift to someone who is proud to be a part of the Democratic Party.
