Stunning large Dansk Danish Staved Teak Fruit bowl by Jens Quistgaard. Quistgaard was a Danish sculptor and designer who was known for his work with the American Company "Dansk Designs" where he was the chief designer for 30 years. His work became synonymous with "Scandinavian Modern". This beautiful bowl was made in 1955 and measures 9'"high, 10" diameter and 32" around the middle at it's fullest point. It's also extremely light for it's size, weighing in at 2lbs 3ozs. This bowl is made from staved teak with round cut-outs around the top. The craftmanship is next to none as you can see by the pictures. Beautifully carved inside rim, as well as the circles around the top are flawless. There are no scuff marks, cracks or chips on this piece. I have only found one other of this design. Questions? Please let me know.
