DRAMATIC 1930s' BURGUNDY FELT WIDE BRIM FEDORA - BLACK BEADS + FEATHER SPRAY

This hat is truly dramatic: The crown and the wide brim are covered with scattered black beads glued onto the burgundy felt. The brim is edged in coordinating grosgrain that matched the grosgrain band around the crown. The truly spectacular spray of black feathers. is remarkable, as the feathers end in black discs made of a plastic material that could be bakelite. The hat will be admired by all when worn. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular.
