Scammers are out to get you, new poshers (they tried to scam me too when I first started and I have seen a lot of scammers preying upon new poshers (which I have reported)) and as new poshers it can be hard to know what’s a scam and what isn’t.
Most of the time scammers will look for new poshers (profiles who haven’t sold a lot of items and are just getting their business going) because they have less experience. So here’s some ways that scammers went about trying to scam me:
1. They will ask you to send more pictures or information to their email. Listen up! If someone comments to do ANY business OFF of Poshmark report it!! There is a little flag by their comment where you can report “transaction off Poshmark”. Once you are off Poshmark, Poshmark can do nothing to protect you. Sadly, one of my friends (who was a new Posher and didn’t know any better) got off the site to send more information about her item and ended up having terrible websites come up. So just stay on Poshmark!
2. They ask for a cashiers check. For safe transactions you need to go through Poshmark’s system. Do not accept cashiers check (spoiler, you won’t be getting anything).
3. They say they need more information for their “daughter, son, etc.” through off site methods, like email.
4. Their spelling and punctuation is horrendous (like barely readable).
Those are just a few tips, but I hope they will help someone who’s new to this!
Stay safe and happy poshing!
❤️ isn’t she lovely
