DIVINE DESIGNER 1930's GREEN SUEDE & GOLD STRAW

This is a very rare and unique collectors' dream hat from the fashionable late 30s'! The body of the hat is made of very high end natural gold straw. The very wide brim is folded in two places, and is covered in gorgeous suede. A beautiful fabric "rose" and petals adorn the brim at one side. The suede shows a bit of discoloration around the headband, plus has a small area where the suede has worn off, as shown in photo # 9. There is also a small area where make-up stains are present on the inside headband. This does not distract from the beauty, wearability and magnificence of this one-of-a-kind hat, but we need to disclose it. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place.This hat could belong to a museum collection. Label: SALLY VICTOR Famous milliner Sally Victor (1905-1977) was a contemporary of both Lilly Daché and Mr. John. From the 1930s to 1950s, a hat was a required accessory and America was a leader in designer millinery. Together, Victor, Daché and John were known as the ‘Big Three’ of the industry during this period. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
