What a stunning look, still today!!! This 1960s' brown felt fedora consists of a tall crown surrounded by a medium, upturned, topstitched brim edged in brown grosgrain. The unique feature of this hat is the wavy front brim, which has grosgrain edged opening at the side-front. There is a beautiful orange fabric flower with stem fastened to the crown by the opening.
The hat wearing requirement from previous decades was drastically subsiding in the 1960s. Most dressy hats in the 1960s were worn by women who embraced the traditional etiquette rules of wearing hats to match the occasion.
Label: MR. JOHN Classic. There is also an imprint inside the hat stating 100% wool, Mr. John's signature + Fawn Finish
MR. JOHN: John P. John was an American milliner. According to the New York Times, "... the name Mr. John was as famous in the world of hats as Christian Dior was in the realm of haute couture".
This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
