DARLING 1950s' BLACK STRAW "DONUT" STYLE HAT + FABRIC ROSES & VEILING

This is an adorable black straw hat from the fabulous fifties! The hat is created into a "donut" style in that it is round and open in the middle. There is now veiling covering the top and sides of the hat, but does not cover the face. Two small velour bows are attached to each top side.There are a couple of beautiful red roses with green stems adorning the top front area. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
