This vintage hat was passed down 3 generations before making its way to me!
I reshaped and decorated and gave it some new life. :)
It is in vintage condition, so it comes with some specks on the felt, but no major stains, just pre-lovin.
This hat will last forever years and years more if we’ll taken care of it!

This is not a pure beaver hat. It’s mostly rabbit with a smaller amount of beaver. Churchill also made a Beaver 50 and a Beaver 100 at the time this hat was made. This is a nice hat. The brand was owned by Resistol and they were/are good hats. I have bought several of them over the years and they have all been nice.

@deadlyhandsome Hi! Thanks for checking out my listing & posting your knowledge! Would you be able to share your source material? The hatter of 30 years who I have been learning from told me it is full beaver when I couldn’t find information about it. Would love to be able to read more about it if you can share! Cheers

@cjegli I’d look for a new expert if your hatter thinks this Beaver “25” inch s a pure beaver fur hat. In vintage hats, it’s rare to know the exact fur contents. Unlike with wool, there isn’t a legal requirement to disclose the fur types and percentages. However, when there is a “50” and “100” in the product line, and the 100 is marked as beaver with vicuña, we can be sure that the 25 isn’t pure beaver. The Fedora Lounge has a thread on Churchill hats that is also useful.

Please understand, this is a nice hat. Very few hats, including vintage hats, are/were 100% beaver fur felt. This is an Open Road style hat and it’s probably from the 1950s or 1960s. It is desirable to collectors, but they’ll remove anything non-original that has been added. You have two small issues with this hat: it’s a bit on the small side and it’s not the much rarer 50 or 100. The 100 competed with the other “One-Hundred” hats of its day and came in a fitted leather case.

Does this hat still have the matching factory ribbon under the blue ribbon? Thanks.

@cjegli I’m interested, but at a price more aligned with what I’ve paid for my other Churchill hats. If you’re firm on something close to your price I’ll pass and you don’t need to look. Thanks.
