Although this was considered a 'new' find in the early 2000's, and everyone was so excited about another beautiful fossil stone...to the best of my knowledge, none of that turned out to be accurate. So, okay, it's still a pretty stone, right? The best information comes from the scientific community (i.e. geologists and gemologists), and they say it's a rhyolite: a “green ground mass of quartz, pyroxene (Aegirine), as well as soda and potash spats, circular aggregates are arranged from very small amphibole needles.”
I have a large galet here (and another listing for a small galet), with gorgeous swirly green and green-blue patterns with black and green to greenish-brown 'eyes' (what were once thought to be Stromatolite algae fossils).
This is a soothing stone, great for meditation focus; you can get lost in the patterns!
Size: 3" x ~2.5" Weight: >10.5 oz (300g) Origin: Kabamba river / Tsiroanomandidy, West-Central Bongolava, Madagascar circa 2005
Please note that these were hand cut and polished by small family businesses and thus may have imperfections. I highly recommend sourcing your stones (everything!) from people that care about people and fairly trade with them, even if they cost a little bit more for you to enjoy.
Price reduced due to new fees/policy to keep things fair for sellers and buyers!
